It was in the year 2005, when the first Toyota Fortuner was launched. It was very popular and successful in countries like Ecuador and Thailand. In August 2009, it was introduced in India and became a hit. Toyota had doubled its production to cope with the increasing demand of the customers. After nine months, Toyota had decided to suspend the bookings of Fortuner for some time because of the enormous demand for the vehicle. It was considered a best seller SUV in India. Some of its top competitors included Honda CRV, Ford Endeavor and Chevrolet Captia.

The Toyota Fortuner has a SUV curb weight of 2720 kg. This SUV has an overall mileage of 8.56km/liter, 10.8km/ liter on highways and 8km/liter on cities. Offering great luxury and best comfort, the Fortuner has a seating capacity for 7 persons and designed with an overall length of 4695mm, an overall width of 1840mm and an overall height of 1850mm. It has wheelbase of 2750mm and ground clearance of 225mm.

Toyota Hilux was introduced in March of 1968. The first model was known as the RN10 and came in a short wheelbase model with a 1.5L engine. In 1969 long wheelbase version was added to the line-up.
